The Technology Behind It

At the heart of El Cosmico’s construction is Icon’s Vulcan 3D-printing system. This system uses massive 3D printers, controlled by human operators, to extrude Lavacrete, a proprietary cement-like material. The printers build up structures layer by layer, creating the skeletal framework of the hotel. Human builders then complete the finishing touches, adding roofs, windows, and the necessary utilities to make each dwelling a habitable space.The Vulcan system has already proven its efficiency and capability, having been used in projects like Wolf Ranch and Wimberly Springs.
