Key Features and Upgrades

Upgraded GPU and Ray Tracing:

The PS5 Pro boasts a significant upgrade to its graphics processing unit (GPU), featuring 67% more Compute Units and 28% faster memory than the base PS5. This leads to a performance boost of up to 45% faster rendering for smoother gameplay. The new console also enhances ray tracing, delivering more realistic lighting and reflections by casting rays at up to triple the speed of the original PS5.

An upgraded GPU along with a slight boost in performance to the CPU means games will run much smoother.

AI-Driven Upscaling (PSSR):

One of the standout features of the PS5 Pro is its PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), an AI-based upscaling system that improves image clarity by enhancing pixel-level details. This allows for sharper graphics without compromising on frame rates, even in demanding titles.

Game Boost and Backward Compatibility:

The PS5 Pro includes a Game Boost feature that enhances the performance of over 8,500 PS4 and PS5 games. Major titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will also receive free updates to take advantage of the Pro’s enhanced hardware.

With increased WI-FI speeds and a higher storage capacity gamers can rest easy.

Design and Disc Drive:

The design of the PS5 Pro is similar to the original PS5, but with a distinctive horizontal stripe across the faceplate. Notably, the console will not include a built-in disc drive. However, players can purchase a separate disc drive if needed, making the PS5 Pro a digital-first console.

The exclusion of a disc drive means that the ps5 will be an all digital console.

Conclusion

The PS5 Pro is shaping up to be a powerful upgrade for gamers seeking higher fidelity and smoother performance in their games. With features like advanced ray tracing, AI-driven upscaling, and a larger storage capacity, it will provide a significant leap over the standard PS5. However, its higher price point and digital-only approach may limit its appeal to more dedicated gamers.
